So, you just bought a beautiful piece of Green Aventurine. It looks lucky, it feels nice, but a tiny voice in your head is asking: "Is this actually real, or did I just buy a piece of green glass?"

Don't worry. You don't need to be a scientist to figure it out. Green Aventurine is actually one of the easier crystals to identify because it has a special "secret weapon" called Aventurescence.

Here are 5 simple tests to check if your stone is the real deal.

1. The "Sparkle" Test (Most Important!)

Real Green Aventurine isn't just a flat green color. If you hold it under a light and move it around, you should see a subtle, glittery effect inside the stone.

• Real: It looks like there are tiny flakes of glitter trapped deep inside. This is called aventurescence (caused by tiny minerals like mica).

• Fake: It looks flat, dull, or like a solid block of green crayon.

2. The Color Test

Nature is rarely perfect. If your crystal looks too perfect, be suspicious.

• Real: The green color will likely be uneven. You might see lighter spots, darker streaks, or little white dots.

• Fake: The color is a super bright "neon" green, or it looks exactly the same all over, like a dyed piece of plastic.

3. The Bubble Test

This is the easiest way to spot a glass fake. Take a close look at your stone (use a magnifying glass if you have one).

• Real: You will never see round air bubbles inside a natural stone.

• Fake: If you see tiny, perfectly round air bubbles frozen inside, it is 100% man-made glass.

4. The Temperature Test

Hold the stone against your cheek or in the palm of your hand.

• Real: It should feel cold to the touch, even if it's a warm day. It takes a while to warm up to your body temperature.

• Fake: Plastic or resin will feel warm or room-temperature immediately.

5. The Scratch Test

Green Aventurine is a tough stone (it is a type of Quartz). It is harder than normal glass or a steel knife.

• Real: If you try to scratch a piece of glass with your stone, the stone should win. Also, a steel pin shouldn't easily leave a scratch on your stone.

• Fake: If you can easily scratch it with a pin, or if it feels light and flimsy like plastic, it’s likely a fake.
